"Can I open them now (Name)? Pleeasssseeee?" begged your boyfriend, Alfred, on his knees with a puppy pout, staring wide-eyed at you like a little kid.
"Well, since everyone has left, go ahead," you said, making him cheer and start tearing up any presents that had his name on it.
"As excited as ever aren't you?" you said a bit sarcastically, but with a small smile.
"Haha! You bet!" he cheered, hands in the air, but suddenly stopped with a sad face, "I wish Artie was here though…"
You just responded by rubbing his back sympathetically. You weren't exactly sure what had happened between the two brothers and you also knew that both of them had forgotten how this had even started, but it seemed like one day the three of you were great friends and then when you went over to their house the next day they were screaming insults at each other, somehow ending up with Arthur moving back to England.
You still talked to Arthur over the phone sometimes, but neither of them ever wanted to speak to each other, afraid that the other would still be mad.
"Don't worry it Al," you said trying to comfort him, "Anyway, do want your Christmas present?"
He nodded a little and you smirked a little, handing him a can of beans.
"What? This?!" he questioned incredulously, wondering how much this thing was really worth.
"Haha! It's just a joke Al," you replied, taking the can back and placing it on the countertop, just as the doorbell rang.
"And here comes your present now," you continued, "Could you get it Al?"
"Sure thing babe!" Alfred replied, his mood slightly better.
He opened the door and was about to ask the mailman about his present but he could only stare at the person standing at his doorstep.
"…Artie?" he asked, not sure if this was all just his imagination playing tricks on him again.
"Hello…Alfred…" said Arthur, rubbing the back of his head awkwardly.
"What are you doing here?" questioned Alfred.
"Well…" started Arthur but you finished speaking for him.
"I invited him over," you said, walking up behind Alfred, "You two are always complaining about how you two miss each other so I told Arthur you were no longer mad at him and invited him over."
"So…you're not still mad at me?" asked Alfred.
"What? Of course not, you're still my little brother aren't you?" stated Arthur, "Anywhere, here's your present."
"Thanks Artie," he said, placing the present on the floor before hugging him, "Merry Christmas."
You watched this scene happily, glad that the two had stopped fighting.
"Thank you too babe. This is the best present a hero could ever have. His bro and the best girlfriend ever," Alfred told you, picking you up and spinning you around before giving you a huge kiss.
"Ok! Let's open Artie's present now!" Alfred said excitedly, tearing the wrapping paper apart, only to reveal…
You laughed at his 'Are you kidding me?' expression.
"Well, you do need to learn more proper English."
"Artie, Christmas is supposed to have fun presents."
"Well, reading is fun."
"No it's not, it's booorriinnnnggg…"
"Why you git!!!"
You just watched this little argument with a smile, glad that they were back to normal.
