Iceland x Reader - Smile

It was just not your day. First, it started of with you getting drenched on the way to school. Next, you were scolded for being late by your teacher, not even accepting the reason you gave that you had to take shelter from the rain before you caught a cold. And now, your favourite toy was broken. Great, just great.

As you were far too busy sulking in the corner, lamenting to yourself about your horrible day so far, you did not notice a certain boy walk up to you.

“Um…” he called out, managing to catch your attention, “Are you ok?”

“Ok? OK? Do I look ok?!” you shouted at him, but feeling a bit bad after seeing him flinch, continued in an apologetic tone, “Sorry, I’ve just been having a bad day…”

“It’s ok,” he said, sitting down next to you. You turned to face his direction, taking in his appearance. His hair was a silvery-white colour, and he was wearing a white shirt with brown pants. In his hands was a bird plush of some sort, though you didn’t really know what it was. You were still really upset though, so you didn’t bother asking either.

“You know, my older brothers taught me a magic trick that can make any day better,” he told you.

“Really? What is it?” you asked, inching closer to him as your eyes sparkled in curiosity.

“You trace a smiley face onto your palm with your finger, and then put your palm to your mouth and swallow,” the boy told you, taking your hand and drawing a smile for you.

After he finished, you stared at your palm for a second, hesitating, before placing your palm against your mouth.

“Hey! It actually works!” you cheered, suddenly feeling a tingling feeling rising from your chest, causing you to smile.

“What’s your name?” you asked excitedly, really curious about this ‘magician’.

“E-Emil…” he stuttered out, flustered at the sudden change of topic.

“I’m (Name)! Let’s be friends!”

“Oi (Name)! …What are you doing?” deadpanned Emil, as he saw you rolling on the floor.

“I got into an argument again,” you huffed, tightening your grip on the couch pillow in your hands.

He stayed put for about a minute, staring, before sighing and sitting next to you.

“Emil? What are you…?” you asked, confused by his actions.

He did not reply though. Wordlessly, he grabbed a hold of your hand and turned your palm face-up. He then used a finger to trace that familiar smile into you hand.

“Swallow it,” he said simply.

This time, you didn’t hesitate at all, immediately bringing your palm up to your mouth, ‘swallowing the smile’. It made an uncontrollable smile break out onto your face, that tingly feeling rising up again as with every time he did this for you.

“Thank you Emil,” you smiled at him, “but you’re forgetting one thing.”

“What?”

“Your own smile,” you said, before leaning in to give him a kiss.

“W-what was that for?!” he questioned after pulling back, using an arm, trying (and failing) to cover the ever-growing blush on his face.

“Well, I swallowed the smile right? And now it’s on my lips. So if I kiss you, you will be stuck smiling too!” you replied, smiling at your idea.

“…Idiot,” he said, averting his eyes away from you, managing to hide a small smile behind his arm, leaving you to wonder what made him so flustered.
